Mokulele Awarded Hana, HI EAS

Mokulele was chosen by the US DOT (Department of Transportation) to be the air carrier of record for the community of Hana, Hawaii for the next two years. The route will continue to operate two times per day from Kahului, Maui.

Under the terms of the EAS contract, Mokulele will offer fourteen weekly departures from Hana to Kahului using Cessna (single turboprop) 208 Caravan aircraft. Mokulele began operating under the contract as of November 21, 2017 and will operate through November 30, 2019.

This route is not new to Mokulele Airlines, however the route will now receive subsidy from the Federal Government. As of last August 2017, Mokulele reached the decision to file a termination notice to start the discussion to receive the federal subsidy for that route. As a result of Mokulele filing a notice of termination, the Department of transportation started the EAS selection procedures currently in place.

Mokulele Airlines being awarded the subsidy brings a confidence to the community of Hana that they will continue to have daily air service. This will greatly benefit the nearby communities of Hana in reliable air service. Mokulele intends to continue its routes as currently being offered.

In anticipation of this contract Mokulele switched its flight service times to better meet the needs of the community. The current published flight times from Kahului are listed below. For those departing from Hana, the flight times and connections are listed below.

As recently posted here on Mokulele’s website here is a snapshot of flight times for those departing from Hana, the flight times and connections are listed.
